Introducing: 2025 OPVG Board Members

 

Thank you for everyone who participated in the recent Board nominations and elections process in November. We are pleased to announce the following Board Members for 2025 who will all serve a two-year term.

 

  • District 1 – congratulations to Adrien Pinsonneault and Eric Allaer

  • District 3 – congratulations to Neil Reimer

 

A heartfelt thank you to departing Board Member Chris Stewart for his time, dedication and contributions to the OPVG Board and the processing vegetable industry. Thank you, Chris!

Nortera Crop Update and Negotiating Committee Elections

Wednesday, December 4

10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (lunch included)

A reminder about the upcoming grower meeting for Nortera crops that will include the election of growers to 2025 Negotiating Committees and an industry update from Nortera.

 

To be eligible for nomination or entitled to vote, a person must be a producer holding a current processing vegetable contract with Nortera. If you are unable to attend, but willing to serve on a committee if nominated, please email the OPVG office at opvg@opvg.org BEFORE the meeting. 

 

If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP by emailing opvg@opvg.org or call 519-681-1875 to account for meal numbers.

Ontario's Crop Protection Hub

The Crop Protection Hub was created as a resource for Ontario growers to view in depth information on pest management and crop protection options. You will be able to search by crop species, product or active ingredient to view information detailing products specifications, diseases treated, rate information, and application methods.

OPVG bursary applications due January 6

 

To encourage and support students interested in pursuing a career in the processing vegetable sector, OPVG offers three annual bursaries and the application process is open with submissions due by January 6, 2025.

 

  • OPVG Industry Bursary $1,000
  • Jim Whitson Memorial Bursary $2,000
  • Ken Epp Memorial Bursary $2,000

 

The bursary program has been running since 2001, and we’ve provided over $200,000 to students during that time.
